The CrossFit Total

May 24th, 2008 at Front Range CrossFit

The CrossFit Total is the sum of the best of three attempts at the squat, the press, and the deadlift. The CrossFit Total more accurately reflects the level of functional strength available to an athlete than any other test available.

We will be open from 9:00 AM through 12:00 PM on that Saturday. We will have a signup at the gym for the different start times. It takes about an hour to get through the Total from start to finish. If you are not a Front Range CrossFit athlete, but you want to participate and get an official CrossFit Total, please email us and we will set you up with a start time. skip@frontrangecrossfit.com

No, you cannot email me and try to find out what the running based WOD is.  It will involve running either 200 or 400 meters and some other exercises in a multi-round format.  The randomly generated WOD will consist of pullups (that's a given) and some other exercises.  Please email me if you plan on attending.  All are welcome to compete.  You can do one, two, or all three events.  You need to do all three events in order to compete for the over-all title.  If we have enough people we may have a master's division in addition to the men's and women's categories.  If you are thinking of attending the CrossFit Games in July, this is a great way to find out where you stand.

Run the Republic 2008

The American Lung Cancer Association of Colorado
Feb. 24th, 2008

The annual stair climb is in a new taller location. The tallest building in the Rocky Mountain West - the Republic Plaza in Downtown Denver.

Usually the building's stairwell is closed to the public, but they will unchain the doors and let you climb all the way to the 53rd floor and then take the elevator back down to the lobby for food, interactive booths and fun.

Run the Republic raises funds for lung health issues that are more critical now than ever before. Lung disease is the third leading cause of death in the United States. While the death rates of cancer and heart disease are decreasing, deaths from lung disease are increasing at an alarming rate. Please join us February 24th and help us turn the trend around.

Tenth Mountain Hut Trip

February 8th, 9th, & 10th, 2007

2nd Annual Front Range CrossFit Hut Trip will leave Saturday Feb 8th. We will be skiing to the Skinner Hut in the 10th Mountain Hut System and staying two nights.

Balanced on the apex of a craggy, precipitous ridge, the Skinner Hut is on one of the most vertigo-inducing sites of any hut in the state. This hut is the most remote and hardest to reach in the system. Skinner Hut is named in honor of William Wood Skinner, 10th Mountain Division veteran. Because of steep terrain and possible avalanche danger, no route to the Skinner Hut is moderate.

• Trailhead: Turquoise Lake, elevation 9,760' Route: F.S. road 104, F.S. road 105 to the hut, Total Mileage 14.5
• Hut Elevation: 11,620'

Secret Service Snatch Test

November 13th, 2007 at Front Range CrossFit

We will be doing the Secret Service Snatch Test today.  It is a 10 minute kettlbell snatch set.  The men use the 53 lb bell, the women use the 35 lb bell.  You can switch hands as many times and as often as you like.  You just need to still be snatching when the 10 minutes is done.
