Junior Nationals were held this year in Foster City California. Colleen lifted extremely well this past weekend. It was the third Junior Nationals that we have been to, and the quality of lifting was considerably higher than anything that I have seen.
Colleen opened the snatch with a lift at 67 kilos and made it easily. We jumped to 70 kg and that lift was even better than the first. She narrowly missed her third snatch attempt of 72 kg out front. She ended up tied for third place in the snatch, but the other girl was lighter, so she won the tie breaker.
Back in the warmup room for the Clean and Jerk, I could tell that Colleen's ankle was bothering her on the jerk. So we tried to keep the warm up lifts as few as possible and made some pretty big jumps. She ended up smoking her last warm up lift at 82 kg and then walked out on the competition stage and easily made her opener at 83 kg. We jumped to 86 kg and she made that one too.
We had to make some adjustments and raised her third attempt to 90 kg to make sure that she was going to have a shot at earning a bronze medal. She made a very tough clean, but missed the jerk.
In the end, Colleen was fourth overall. She had a meet PR in both the Clean and Jerk and in the Total. She lifted great. We couldn't be more proud of you Leenie!!!
