Looking Around the Room
So I was helping to coach the Noon workout on Friday. The workouts had 24 muscle-ups in it. And I looked around the room at the class that was doing that workout. And I realized that 10 out of the 14 athletes doing that noon workout were doing muscle-ups. They were doing handstand pushups. A couple of them were CrossFit Games athletes, but everyone else was just there on their lunch break, getting a workout in. It was just a normal Friday Noon workout.
We are all just used to the level of CrossFit athletes we have at FRCF. We take it for granted. But what we see every day at FRCF isn’t normal. I looked closer at that noon group and did some calculation. That group had been doing CrossFit for an average of 3.2 years. If you counted the Coaches in the building, that number jumped to over 4 years of CrossFit experience.
I did the same thing at the 5 PM workout. I just looked around the room… same thing. Except at this workout time, we actually ran out of rings. Which, considering how many rings we have in the gym, is saying something. Every HSPU spot along the wall was being used. And that workout only had two CrossFit Games athletes in it. Everyone else was there to get a great workout on a Friday night.
I guess that every CrossFit Affiliate thinks that they are special. And they are. What we all have created here at FRCF, in terms of the CrossFit abilities that you all have, is pretty special.
Sometimes, it is good to look around the room, and see how lucky we all are.
